In some cases rings are merely worn for adornment and as a piece of jewelry to show off or display. Rings can be both formal and informal and are used to display one's style or type of dress.
There are many different rings that represent a number of different symbols including class rings which represent the individual's alma mater, or the school they graduated from. Other rings display heritage or cultural beliefs, such as the Claddagh ring, which dates back to Irish tradition. In other cases, rings are used to celebrate special occasions or as a type of award for something, such as the championship rings that are given when a team wins a certain type of sporting tournament or series.
