Paraiba Tourmaline
View All Paraiba Tourmaline ProductsParaiba Tourmaline is easily the most beautiful gemstone to ever hit the market. It contains a fraction of copper, which helps gives off this neon glow that really looks amazing. It seems unheard of that a Tourmaline can produce such vibrant colors, but year after year we've seen impressive pieces. All of our Paraibas were mined in the state of Paraiba, Brazil. Introduced in 1989, Paraiba's popularity continues to grow despite rising prices and controversy over it's true origin. There have been recent discoveries of copper-bearing tourmaline in Nigeria and Mozambique that are being called Paraiba. Although we have seen a handful of these tourmalines that rival true Paraiba from Brazil, the majority of these gemstones just don't radiate that same striking neon glow as the Brazillian material. Even though this new finding is almost chemically identical, we choose to recognize Brazil as the only true source for Paraiba, and consider the African material a close second. Regardless of origin, Paraiba is almost all mined out and no one is able know for sure us if there's more to come. Because of this, prices have skyrocketed and are forecasted to rise even more. Owning a Paraiba now is a great idea for an investment.
